What this category lists

Thirteen of the 22 products are liquids in small dark glass bottles with a dropper cap. Their names use the supplier’s terms – extract, tincture or essence – and each label gives the plant by its Latin name, followed by alcohol at 20%. Where a label prints a ratio, such as 5:1 or 1:25, we quote it as printed; where it prints none, we do not add one. The other products are concentrates in solid, spray or oil form, plus a few dry mushroom products, a paste and a cacao blend that are filed here as well.

Resin, spray and essential oil

Three products are concentrated in other ways. The blue lotus resin extract 50:1 from Thailand is made from the flower of Nymphaea caerulea and comes as a dark, glossy piece, in 5 g, 25 g or 100 g. The chilcuague extract (Heliopsis longipes) from Mexico is a concentrate in a 30 ml amber glass bottle with a spray cap. Palo santo essential oil from Peru is obtained from the heartwood of Bursera graveolens, according to the supplier, and is sold in 10, 50 or 100 ml.

Mushrooms, ambil and cacao

Several dry products sit in this category too. Chaga (Inonotus obliquus), wild-harvested in Finland, comes as whole pieces in 50 g, 250 g or 1 kg, or as a 100 g powder. Reishi (Ganoderma lucidum) from China is sold as a 100 g powder, and a powdered blend of seven mushrooms – reishi, chaga, shiitake, maitake, lion’s mane, cordyceps and tremella – in 50 g, 250 g or 1 kg. Medicine Magic ceremonial cacao from Colombia is made with seven mushrooms and comes in 200 g or 400 g. Ambil from Colombia is a paste of rustica tobacco in a 50 g glass jar. More mushroom extracts from Foodsporen, Mushinto and McMyco, as liquids or capsules, are grouped under Mushroom Tincture & Extract.

Storing your botanicals

Keep dried plants in their tightly closed pouch or in an airtight jar, away from light, moisture and heat. Powders absorb moisture easily, so close them again straight away. For extracts, tinctures and capsules, follow the instructions on the label and the printed date.

Before using a plant

Keep plants out of the reach of children and pets.
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or taking any medication, ask a doctor or pharmacist first: many plants interact with medicines.
Stop immediately if you have an allergic reaction or feel unwell.
The information on this page describes the product; it does not replace medical advice.

Discreet delivery

Orders are packed on working days and leave in plain outer packaging that does not describe the contents. Once your order has shipped, we email you the tracking link when one is available. Estimated delivery times, right of withdrawal and exceptions: Delivery, tracking and returns.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between an extract and a tincture here?

In this category both are liquids in dropper bottles. The product name follows the supplier’s term – extract, tincture or essence – and every label lists the plant and alcohol at 20%.

Which products state a ratio?

The caapi extract (5:1), the guayusa extract (1:1) and the iboga essence (1:25) print the ratio on the label, and the blue lotus resin extract carries 50:1 in its name. The mulungu tincture is 1:1 according to its name and the supplier. The other products state no ratio.

Which sizes are available?

Bottles hold 5 ml (iboga essence), 10 ml or 30 ml. The palo santo oil comes in 10, 50 or 100 ml and the blue lotus resin in 5, 25 or 100 g. The mushroom products, the cacao and the ambil range from 50 g to 1 kg.

Who supplies these products?

Most carry the Maya label (Maya World Trading B.V., Haarlem, the Netherlands). The ceremonial cacao with seven mushrooms is made by Medicine Magic.

Are all products in this category liquids?

No. Besides the bottles, the category lists a resin extract, chaga and reishi in whole or powdered form, a seven-mushroom powder, ambil paste and a cacao blend. Each product page states the form.
