The story behind the shop
Mycotrop is a specialist smartshop based in the Netherlands, owned and operated by Mycotek B.V. in Utrecht. Every order leaves in neutral outer packaging, and we are rewriting the catalogue so that each product is described by what it is – species or strain, form, origin and pack size. Orders are open to adults aged 18 and over, and all products are sold strictly as collectible or souvenir items.
From an interest in fungi to a specialist shop
Mycotrop grew out of owner Jim’s long-standing interest in fungi: the hidden network of mycelium, the variety of mushroom species and the practical side of cultivation. That interest became a shop that presents specialist products in plain language, so they are easy to understand and compare.
Jim still runs Mycotrop as an enthusiast’s shop rather than a faceless marketplace. The standard we apply as we rewrite our product pages is simple: details that can be checked, not promises.
How the range is organised
The catalogue covers magic truffles, mushroom grow kits, rapé and a wider smartshop range of botanicals. Products are grouped by family, then by strain, people, form and pack size. We are working to make product names and variant labels consistent in English, French and German.
Our aim is for each product page to state what the item is, what the pack contains and which details help when you compare options. In the rewrite, facts not confirmed by the label or the supplier are left out rather than guessed, and older product pages are being brought up to this standard step by step.
