Whole Banisteriopsis caapi leaves from Peru
This product is the leaf of Banisteriopsis caapi, not the vine: whole, dried leaves, shown in the photos heaped in a shallow woven basket. The pouch in the cover photo carries the Maya Ethnobotanicals label of Maya World Trading B.V. in Haarlem, the Netherlands. It names the plant Banisteriopsis caapi and states "Whole leaves – Shipibo tribe" and "Made in Peru". In the shop the leaves are listed as Cielo leaves. Mycotrop sells them in 100 g, 250 g and 1 kg.

Leaves rather than vine
Most caapi products in the shop are vine: shredded, whole or as a liquid extract. This is the only leaf product in the Banisteriopsis caapi category, and it is the same species. If you are looking for vine sold under the same Cielo name, see Cielo vine from Peru, available in 100 g and 250 g. "Cielo" is a trade name: the World Checklist of Vascular Plants (WCVP) lists no varieties within Banisteriopsis caapi.
About the plant
Banisteriopsis caapi is an accepted species of the Malpighiaceae, named by C.V. Morton on the basis of Spruce's Banisteria caapi. POWO describes it as a climber of the wet tropical biome. WCVP records it as native from Colombia and Venezuela through Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia to parts of Brazil and north-western Argentina, so the Peruvian origin on the label lies within its natural range.
