Dutch sellers rate it between 3 and 4 out of 5. They mention a warm onset in the body, colours and patterns, closed-eye visuals and an introspective, creative or euphoric state.
The Trimbos Institute points out that such labels are not based on any measurement: all truffles contain the same substances, and only the strength varies.

Strength rating published by Mycotrop for the Mycotek range, alongside the ratings other Dutch sellers (Zamnesia, MushMagic, Azarius, atlantistruffles.com) give truffles sold under the same name. These are pointers, not measurements: according to the Trimbos Institute, all truffles contain the same substances and differ only in strength.
Psilocybe atlantis, a species from Georgia
Most sellers link Atlantis to Psilocybe atlantis, a species described in 2003 by Gastón Guzmán, Hanlin and White from collections made in Fulton County, Georgia (USA), whose county seat is Atlanta. It is a close relative of Psilocybe mexicana.
The link between the species name and the city of Atlanta is plausible but not documented. Mycotek does not state the species on the pouch, and one seller names P. tampanensis instead.
What are magic truffles?
Sclerotia, not mushrooms
Truffles are underground reserves that some Psilocybe species form to store water and nutrients. They are not mushrooms (fruiting bodies), but they contain the same substances: psilocybin and psilocin.
Which species?
Mostly Psilocybe tampanensis and Psilocybe mexicana, sometimes P. atlantis. Variety names (Utopia, Hollandia, Pandora…) are trade names, and sellers don’t always agree on the species.
Fresh, in a sealed pouch
Mycotek truffles are sold fresh: small brown lumps, hard but easy to chew, with a bitter, nutty taste. Fresh truffles are about two-thirds water.
The effects in general
According to the Trimbos Institute, Jellinek and Unity, perception intensifies: colours, sounds and shapes become more vivid, patterns move even with your eyes closed, and time seems to slow down. Thinking becomes associative, bringing unexpected insights or thought loops. Laughter, euphoria and a sense of connection with other people or with nature are common; at high doses the senses blend and the sense of self can dissolve. The effects come in waves and amplify whatever mood you are in.
The body reacts too: dilated pupils, a slightly higher heart rate and blood pressure, chills, a dry mouth and, almost always, a heavy or queasy phase at the start (the “body load”).

Dosage guidelines
Unity (Jellinek / Arkin) says people usually take 5–9 g of truffles for a normal experience and 10–15 g for a strong one. Measured potency varies roughly threefold from batch to batch, so always start low, especially the first time.
A medium-strength variety: for a first time, sellers often suggest half a 15 g pouch, i.e. 7–8 g, though it is wiser to start at around 5 g.

Good habits
Don’t eat anything for 2–3 hours beforehand. Don’t take everything at once: you only feel the real strength after about an hour. Don’t take more if you don’t feel well.
Reducing the risks
- Not with a personal or family history of psychosis or bipolar disorder, nor during a period of anxiety or depression. Not during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
- Medication: never with lithium (risk of seizures) or an MAOI (stronger, longer-lasting effects). If you take antidepressants, antipsychotics, anti-epileptics or any other medication, ask a doctor first.
- No alcohol, cannabis or other drugs at the same time: the experience becomes heavier and less predictable.
- A calm, familiar place and a trusted person who stays sober (a tripsitter). This is not a party drug.
- Keep drinks and food at hand: a sugary drink or a piece of fruit can soften the effects.
- Don’t drive that day or the next, and plan a day of rest.
- If an experience gets difficult: move to another room, talk calmly, drink water. If there is danger or someone feels physically unwell, call emergency services (112 in the EU) and say what was taken.
Storage
Fresh truffles are a living product. According to the producers, keep the sealed pouch in the fridge at 2–4 °C and stick to the date printed on it; once opened, use it within two days. Never freeze truffles, and throw away the whole pouch if you see any mould.
