A Katukina rapé made with cumaru wood ash
This rapé (also written rapeh or hapé) is sold under the name of the Katukina, an Indigenous people of western Brazil. The supplier names one plant ingredient, the ash of cumaru wood (Dipteryx odorata), and describes the blend as a tobacco product without naming the tobacco. Only the wood is burnt for the ash; the seed is not part of the blend. Mycotrop stocks it in two sizes, 10 g and 50 g, with identical contents.

Cumaru, the tonka-bean tree
Cumaru is the Brazilian name of Dipteryx odorata, a tree of the pea family (Fabaceae). Its seeds are traded as tonka beans, and older botanical names for the species include Coumarouna odorata. According to the World Checklist of Vascular Plants, the tree is native to northern and west-central Brazil, Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname and French Guiana. For this blend the supplier specifies that only the ash of the wood is used, so the sweet-scented seed is not an ingredient.
The Katukina
The Katukina call themselves Noke Kuin and speak a language of the Pano family. According to the Instituto Socioambiental, they live in two Indigenous territories: on the Gregório river in the municipality of Tarauacá, Acre, and on the Campinas river, on the border between Acre and Amazonas.
Other Katukina blends
The Katukina category also lists Nisural and Lady of the Night, each with its own declared plant, in the same two sizes.
