Herborist blue lotus: dried Nymphaea caerulea flowers
This is blue lotus under the Herborist label, which reads "Blue Lotus", "Nymphaea caerulea" and "[herb]". The product photo shows a small heap of dried flower pieces next to the pouch: dark blue to violet petals with yellow stamens. Mycotrop lists three sizes, 25 g, 100 g and 1 kg, all with the same contents, so the choice is only about quantity.

A water lily with a lotus name
The name Nymphaea caerulea was published by Jules-César Savigny in 1798, in the Décade égyptienne. The World Checklist of Vascular Plants (WCVP) of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, now lists it as a synonym of Nymphaea nouchali var. caerulea. Labels and shops still use the older name, so both appear on this page. The plant belongs to the water lily family, Nymphaeaceae; the lotus of the genus Nelumbo is a different plant.
Native range
WCVP gives the native range as Egypt to southern Africa, the south of the Arabian Peninsula and the Comoros. It lists the plant as introduced in, among other places, north-eastern and southern Brazil, Queensland and New South Wales, Mauritius and Fiji. The Herborist label does not say where these flowers come from.
Packaging and delivery
All products are sold strictly as collectible or souvenir items. Your order is packed on a business day and leaves in neutral outer packaging that says nothing about the contents. When the parcel can be tracked, you receive the tracking link by email after dispatch. Delivery estimates and the 14-day withdrawal right with its statutory exceptions are explained on Delivery, tracking and returns.
