Chaga and its scientific name
In the GBIF backbone, Inonotus obliquus (Fr.) Pilát is the accepted name. The species belongs to the family Hymenochaetaceae, order Hymenochaetales. Chaga is the English name recorded in several checklists, including the UK Species Inventory. French sources give polypore incrusté or polypore oblique, and the German taxon list of the DGfM uses Schiefer Schillerporling. On the Mushinto label, the Latin name is followed by the words fruit body in brackets.
Gold-brown labels, two sizes and related tinctures
Both bottle sizes show a large gold-brown M with the Mushinto name, and the boxes are printed in light brown and white. The same tincture format exists for Mushinto lion’s mane and Mushinto reishi. Chaga from other makers is in the shop too, for example the Foodsporen chaga extract. The three Mushinto tinctures are listed together under Liquid extracts.
