Calocedrus or Libocedrus?
Torrey described the species as Libocedrus decurrens; in 1956 Florin transferred it to Calocedrus. The World Checklist of Vascular Plants (WCVP) of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, accepts Calocedrus decurrens (Torr.) Florin and lists Libocedrus decurrens as a synonym. This is why our incense cedar bundles still use the older name in their product names.
Native range
The checklist records the species as native to Oregon, California and north-western Mexico. In Great Britain, Italy and Spain it is listed as introduced. The supplier gives the United States as the origin, in line with the label.
