Whole ololiuqui seeds from Mexico
This product consists of whole, unground seeds sold as ololiuqui. The photos show small rounded seeds in shades of brown, heaped in clay bowls. The kraft pouch carries a green Maya Herbs label with the words Ololiuqui, Turbina corymbosa, Whole and Made in Mexico. The supplier record for reference 0184 gives seed as the plant part, whole as the form and Mexico as the country. Three weights are available: 10 g, 50 g and 250 g.

Three names for one species
Linnaeus described the plant in 1753 as Convolvulus corymbosus. Later authors placed it in the genera Turbina and Rivea, and Turbina corymbosa is the name still printed on the pouch. The World Checklist of Vascular Plants, compiled by the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, accepts the species as Ipomoea corymbosa (L.) Roth, a name from 1819, and lists the others as synonyms. The supplier also gives Rivea corymbosa as a common name.
Native range
According to the checklist, the species is native to Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean and extends into South America as far as Peru, Bolivia, Paraguay and Brazil. It is recorded as introduced in Florida, the Canary Islands, Sri Lanka, the Philippines and Queensland, among other places.
Other seeds of the family
Mycotrop also lists whole morning glory seeds from Romania, Ipomoea tricolor, from the same genus, and Hawaiian baby woodrose seeds, Argyreia nervosa, another member of the Convolvulaceae.
