The pouch prints the botanical name as “Tinanthus panurensis”. The accepted spelling of the genus is Tynanthus, as used by Kew’s World Checklist of Vascular Plants (WCVP) and by GBIF; the product name and this page follow it.

WCVP accepts Tynanthus panurensis (Bureau) Sandwith, published in 1954, with Schizopsis panurensis Bureau as its basionym. The native range it records runs from Colombia and Ecuador through Peru and Bolivia into northern Brazil. Brazilian flora data list the species as a liana of rainforest vegetation.
