Special Herbal Blend is the name on the green Maya Herbs label of this kraft pouch, with the subtitle Flowers and Herbs and a Made in Netherlands seal. Inside is a fine cut of four leaf materials and two flower materials. The supplier names the product Special Herbal Blend – Finely Cut Herbs and Flowers – Tobacco Free and lists herb as the plant part and the Netherlands as the country. In the photos the cut is even and fine: small green to olive pieces with pale stem fragments, piled in a clay bowl. There are three sizes, 50 g, 250 g and 1 kg. Botanical names, spelled correctly
The supplier attribute reads Althea officinalis, Calendula officinalis, Melilotus officinalis, Mentha piperita, Rubus ideaus, Trifolium pratense. In the GBIF backbone the accepted forms are Althaea officinalis L. (marsh mallow), Calendula officinalis L. (calendula), Melilotus officinalis (L.) Lam. (sweet clover), Mentha × piperita L. (peppermint), Rubus idaeus L. (raspberry) and Trifolium pratense L. (red clover). Two spellings differ, and peppermint carries the hybrid sign.
Marsh mallow in the Netherlands
The World Checklist of Vascular Plants (WCVP) of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, lists Althaea officinalis as native to much of Europe, the Netherlands included, and to parts of western and central Asia. The supplier does not say where each plant in the blend was grown.
