Of the three 30 ml chilcuague sprays from Maya Herbs, this is the one labelled mint. It contains a liquid with Heliopsis longipes, the plant known in the trade as chilcuague, which GBIF and the World Checklist of Vascular Plants list as an accepted species of the Asteraceae native to north-eastern Mexico. The supplier gives the form as liquid, the volume as 30 ml and the country as Mexico, and Mycotrop sells this one size.

Reported effects and traditional use
Heliopsis longipes, chilcuague (also chilcuán, pelitre or “golden root”), is a perennial composite endemic to the Sierra de Álvarez and the Sierra Gorda in Mexico, where the states of San Luis Potosí, Guanajuato and Querétaro meet. Only the root is used.
According to a 2008 ethnobotanical survey in nine traditional markets, the most frequent use is as a condiment in sauces, dishes and alcoholic drinks. It is valued for its pungent flavour and for the numbing sensation it causes in the mouth, which leads to it being paired with chilli. The root is harvested from the wild and pulled up with the plant; the collectors interviewed observe that the species has become scarcer.

A green variant of the label
The bottle is the same dark glass with a black spray head used for the other versions. On the label, the Maya Herbs logo sits on a cream band and the plant name chilcuague runs across an orange field, with the word mint in a white box beneath. A yellow flower and a sprig of green mint leaves form the artwork, and the lower band, which carries the 30 ml mark, is green instead of orange or brown.
Two mint sprays in the range
Mint also appears on a second chilcuague product: the Mexican chilcuague mint root spray comes in a slim clear bottle with a green spray cap and a Spanish-language label, and its supplier states that it is made from the roots. For the Maya Herbs bottle described here, the supplier names no plant part. Another 30 ml spray, whose product name gives no version, is the chilcuague extract spray from Mexico.
