The species
In the World Checklist of Vascular Plants of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, Erythrina mulungu Mart. ex Benth. is the accepted name, and four other names are filed under it as synonyms: Erythrina chacoensis, Erythrina dominguezii, Erythrina xinguensis and Corallodendron mulungu. The checklist places the species in the Fabaceae and maps its native range to six regions: Bolivia, Paraguay, Argentina Northeast, Argentina Northwest, Brazil Southeast and Brazil West-Central. The Brazil printed on the pouch falls inside that range.
