A resin from the Burseraceae
Bursera graveolens (Kunth) Triana & Planch. is accepted by WCVP and the GBIF backbone as a species of the Burseraceae. GBIF places Boswellia and Commiphora, the genera of frankincense and myrrh, in the same family, as well as Protium, the genus of the Mexican black copal in our range. That is why this palo santo resin is also listed in the Resins section, next to resins from other members of the family.
