Name and classification
The World Checklist of Vascular Plants (WCVP), compiled at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, accepts Mansoa alliacea (Lam.) A.H.Gentry as a species of the Bignoniaceae. The combination was published in 1980 and goes back to Bignonia alliacea Lam.; older literature also uses Pseudocalymma alliaceum and Adenocalymma alliaceum. “Ajo” is the Spanish word for garlic, and the recorded English name garlicvine points the same way.
Where the species grows
The checklist gives a native range across northern South America and the southern Caribbean: Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador, Colombia, northern and north-eastern Brazil, the Guianas, Trinidad and Tobago, and the Leeward and Windward Islands. Peru, the origin named for this pack, lies inside that range.
Leaf or wood
Ajo sacha also comes as wood in our range: choose shredded ajo sacha wood for fine fibres or whole ajo sacha wood for intact pieces. This listing is the only one with leaves.
Packaging and delivery
Orders are packed on business days and shipped in neutral outer packaging that does not name the contents. When a tracking number exists, the link is emailed to you after dispatch. Delivery estimates and the 14-day withdrawal period with its exceptions are on the Delivery, Tracking & Returns page.
