Composition and current knowledge

These oils contain cannabidiol (CBD), one of the cannabinoids identified in Cannabis sativa. Unlike THC, CBD is not intoxicating: in 2018 the WHO Expert Committee on Drug Dependence found no psychoactive properties and no abuse or dependence potential for pure CBD, and recommended that it not be placed under international control.

In the European Union, CBD has been in the novel food catalogue since January 2019. In June 2022 EFSA judged that its safety could not be established on the data available. In February 2026 it set a provisional safe level for certain food supplements of highly pure CBD and resumed the assessment of applications one by one; no CBD extract is yet authorised as a food, so its status remains unresolved.

Known compounds	Cannabidiol (CBD); depending on the product, an extract may also contain other cannabinoids and terpenes. The CBD percentage is given on the label.
State of research	EFSA (2022) points to gaps on metabolism, the liver, reproductive toxicity seen in animals and interactions with medicines. No health claim is authorised in the EU for CBD.

How the label reads

The cover photo shows the bottle beside its box. The layout matches the 30% oil, so the two products are easiest to tell apart by the figure and by that heading. The second image is an unbranded close-up of a dropper pipette with marks at 0.25 ml and 0.50 ml, filled with a golden-yellow oil; the 30% oil uses the same image.

The two Mycotek CBD oils share the 10 ml bottle, the dropper cap and the box design. This one is labelled 3% CBD, while the Mycotek CBD Oil 30% is labelled 30% CBD. For other concentrations, the CBD oil category lists Verum Viridi oils from the Netherlands whose names give 5%, 10% or 20% CBD, each in 10 or 30 ml.
