Rapé - Non Indigenous - Shawandawa
The Shawandawa Rapé is a basic blend they use in daily life to give strength for work and relax in the afternoon with their friends. It is a blend of a nice powerful tabacco, Tsunu ashes and herbs from their tradition that gives it its gentle flavor and special force.
Shawãdawa Tribe
Shawadawa tribe is a tribe with deep and extensive knowledge of medicinal plants found in their land along the Juruá River in the western region of Brazil. Today the main objective of Shawa people is to protect their lands and their forest that houses hundreds of natural medicines that are sacred to the local people and are part of their healing and ancestral teachings. They believe their medicine, land, and their forest gives strength to their spirit as well as heals their physical ailments. Shawa means ‘macaw’ in their language, a beautiful and colorful bird found in their forests. Shawadawa people only recently have chosen to start sharing their knowledge and medicinal recipes with the world. We are honored to have a special connection with this tribe and to share their rapé medicine with you.
Slight variations in rapé
Although rapé is made by following a certain recipe, the recipe is seen more so as a guideline rather than something ‘written in stone’. A shaman or medicine man will sometimes slightly alter the ratio of ingredients or the harvest time by following his/her intuition. Please keep in mind that due to the natural qualities of ingredients used in rapé, each batch can naturally vary in strength, scent, or color.
Packaging
In our journey to create a product that is as sustainable as possible, we chose to use glass bottles instead of plastic ones. We strive to contribute as little as possible to the production of plastic (waste), therefore, we would like to ask everyone to keep the delivered Rapé jars and reuse them for other purposes. We are also in the process of developing a recycling program for glass bottles.
